New York Comic Con 2017 is over, but the After Action Report for Marvel Comics will not be a good one. Retailers exploded on the company behind closed doors early on, and then an event with defense contractor Northrop Grumman was cancelled on Saturday.

Ask yourself this question, though: Why did the outrage brigade not seem to care that a Planned Parenthood panel was held at NYCC, but a comic book designed to promote STEM fields generated enough anger to make Marvel buckle?

Mine NYCC

Here’s the deal: I don’t want anything political at a convention that is supposed to be focused on superheroes, but if comic industry pros are going to celebrate abortion providers, then a handful of angry fans on Twitter shouldn’t be able to end a Marvel/Northop team-up.

Check out my latest YouTube video for the full rundown. I experimented with a new format today, so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below. I prefer scripted content whenever possible, but creating it can be very time consuming.

  1. I definitely prefer your comic reviews over Linkara of Atop the Fourth Wall. You (and Captain Cummings and Diversity & Comics) actually get to the point, and call out creators on their stupidity. Linkara spends most of his time pushing an SJW agenda and putting in random storylines that add nothing to the review.

Hola, Carl! Thanks for the kind words. I haven’t seen anything by him in years, but I have heard that he’s basically a left-wing dude.

No problem. I enjoy listening to your reviews and the podcasts you’ve had. I’d comment more often, but these days a lot of my free time is spent writing and looking for publishers. I’ve been rejected twice, but that only makes me more determined.

And yeah, Linkara is a left-wing, virtue-signalling SJW. Hilariously, in 2013, he claimed to be a conservative, but none of the views he espouses are consistent with conservatism. For example, conservatives aren’t in the habit of screaming “sexist, racist, homophobe, transphobe, Islamaphobe” whenever they see something they disagree with.

To quote the Dixie Chicks, I’m ashamed he’s from the same state as me (Minnesota.). Ha.

I’m glad to hear that you’re still writing and shopping your work around! That’s nice to hear, man. Don’t totally discount independent publishing… That might be a good route to go, depending on your goals.

Regardless, make sure to keep me updated as soon as I can get my hands something you’ve written. I’d love to check it out.
