Chicago cop

If there is one good thing about Donald Trump’s presidential campaign it is that socialist goons are making their totalitarian tendencies known. A Trump rally was cancelled on Friday at the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion over security concerns. Bernie Sanders supporters and left-wing activists let it be known that they specifically sought to stifle the billionaire’s ability to speak.

Roughly 10,000 people showed up to hear Trump speak inside the arena and thousands of others waited outside. Activists arrived to start fights, block traffic, and generally make life miserable for the Chicago Police Department.

Fox News reported:

Kamran Siddiqui is a 20-year-old student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where the event was to take place.

He says: “Trump represents everything America is not and everything Chicago is not. We came in here and we wanted to shut this down. Because this is a great city and we don’t want to let that person in here.”

Siddiqui says he’s a supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. He says it “feels amazing” to have stopped Trump from speaking at his own rally.

He adds: “Everybody came together. That’s what people can do. Now people got to go out and vote because we have the opportunity to stop Trump.”

Newsflash: Donald Trump is popular in part because the U.S. is increasingly populated with Siddiquis-like thugs. You can find them online or on any college campus that makes “safe spaces” a priority.

Siddiqui wasn’t alone:

“Chicago community activist Quo Vadis said hundreds of protesters had positioned themselves in groups around the arena, and that they intend to demonstrate right after Trump takes the stage. Their goal, he said, is “for Donald to take the stage and to completely interrupt him. The plan is to shut Donald Trump all the way down.”

The Founding Fathers knew that free speech and the right to assembly were essential to the health of the Republic, which is why they are covered in the First Amendment. Sadly, there are millions of “Siddiquis”and “Vadis” who call themselves Americans while only respecting a narrow band of left-wing thought along the ideological spectrum.

Trump Chicago

“We stopped Trump” the refrain goes. Quite the opposite, in fact. All 10,000 people who did not get to see the man speak because of security threats caused by Bernie Sanders supporters — and millions who watched it unfold on the news — now will be twice as energized to vote for the man.

Guys who would rather be writing about Marvel comics and superhero movies — like me — now must defend the guy. Trust me, that is something I do not want to do, but my love for individual liberty trumps (no pun intended) my lack of enthusiasm or disdain for any political candidate.

Chicago Trump Bernie

Who is more dangerous to the future of America: Socialist hordes that take pride in silencing opponents through any means necessary, or Donald Trump? It’s an excellent question, but right now those who “feel the Bern” are making it clear that their vision for the future looks very much like the nightmare that is Venezuela. Make sure to stock up on toilet paper — socialist utopias usually don’t have much in supply.

  1. The left likes to compare Trump to Hitler and Stalin, and yet it’s the Sanders supporters that are turning out to be the thuggish goons, not Trump supporters. The thugs don’t realize it, but like you said, they’re the reason why Trump is surging in the polls. People are beyond fed up with left-wing nonsense like campus speech codes, political correctness and the such.

My sister (a Bernie Sanders supporter who has attended some of his rallies here in Minnesota; don’t ask me how she could afford it) praised the disruption of the Trump rally on Facebook last night and also said “bigotry has consequences.” Translation: anyone who disagrees with me is a “bigot.” She also hinted that she wouldn’t mind protesting Trump if he comes to MN again. Talk about a sick girl.

    1. Bernie Sanders supporters do not understand human nature and they do not understand basic economics. It takes a group of Sanders supporters to motivate guys like me to come to Trump’s defense. Smooth move there, guys!

Here’s the deal: Trump saying he wished protesters at his events were punched in the face is boorish, but a rational response to idiots trying to derail his events. If I was giving a speech and people started screaming, swearing, and waving their middle fingers around I would have to fight the urge say regrettable things.

What left-wing activists are doing is much, much worse. They are going out in groups to specifically snuff out speech they find unacceptable. That is thuggish. That is scary. And trust me, they do not want to push it with Trump supporters. Now, because of this, Trump will get more media coverage. The “feel the Bern” crowd just poured gasoline on Trump’s fire. Morons.

    2. “Bernie Sanders supporters do not understand human nature and they do not understand basic economics. It takes a group of Sanders supporters to motivate guys like me to come to Trump’s defense. Smooth move there, guys!”

The other day I was at a local Barnes and Noble and spotted a copy of “Economics for Dummies” on one of the bookshelves. I was seriously tempted to take a picture of it with my phone and sending it to my sister with the caption, “Early birthday present for you.” But I didn’t because I knew it cause more problems than it would solve, so I put the book down and went over to the comics section.

    3. It was probably a good idea for you to refrain, even if it would have been funny. 🙂 Sanders supporters are the kind of people who look $19 trillion of debt and say, “Do you know what we need? More ‘free’ stuff! Like…a lot of it. For everyone. But make someone else pay for it all. Thanks.”

  2. This reminds me of the fiasco at CSULA a couple of weeks ago, when Ben Shapiro had a speaking arrangement there. Students barricaded the entryways, and those who wanted to hear him had to be snuck in a few at a time through the back door. The fire alarm was pulled in the middle of his speech. Now, the students are demanding for the CSULA president to be fired for letting him speak. It’s mind boggling. The people who engage in this kind of behavior don’t seem to realize that they are contributing to the kind of hatred, violence, and division they claim to be so against.

    1. Thanks for bringing that up, Grant. I wanted to write on that but work got a little hectic.

The tactics are exactly the same. If you don’t like a man’s politics, then show up in a group, act like an unruly mob, and make any sort of intellectual discourse impossible over the noise. It’s disgraceful.

  3. Tell the socialist goons wait until the illegals start using their bathrooms and crap on the floor and put the toilet paper there, too. We’re like a third world country now.

  4. Courting Trump was asking for a circus atmosphere for the Republican Party. He delivers in spades.

    1. The circus metaphor is a good one. Here is what I wrote in 2011: “Trump puts clown nose in clown-nose holster”

“Donald Trump is a blowhard in the vein of Chris Matthews. Some people like that. They’re good for entertainment, which is probably why they both have television shows. However, they’re also not taken seriously be serious people. Snake-oil salesmen can rile up a crowd, but they can’t trick a well-informed people.”

  5. I’ll admit that I laughed at the idea of Trump (who talks so tough and about getting in people’s faces) got the heck outta there and lied about the city police advising him to shut the rally down. That said, a riot is horrible and demonstrates how things have gotten way out of hand. A peaceful protest is one thing; this was a deliberate attempt to shut down free speech. Look, I loathe Trump and could highlight all the times he whined about being criticized or laughed off assaults committed by his supporters, but that doesn’t excuse what Bernie’s supporters did. Quite frankly, they’re all full of crap. Jack had the right idea: no good guys in this scenario, except for the cops.
